Menjawab Kebutuhan Masyarakat: UI, PT Etana Biotechnologies Indonesia, dan PT Pertamina Bina Medika IHC Membangun Kemitraan Penelitian dan Pengembangan Obat Berbasis Bioteknologi

Universitas Indonesia bersama PT Etana Biotechnologies Indonesia dan PT Pertamina Bina Medika Indonesia Healthcare Corporation (IHC) menandatangani naskah Perjanjian Kerja Sama Induk pada Kamis, 30 September 2021 bertempat di Balai Kirti, Universitas Indonesia. Penandatanganan kerja sama ini diharapkan dapat berkontribusi dalam kemajuan ekosistem industri kesehatan di Indonesia melalui penelitian dan pengembangan obat berbasis teknologi.

Penandatanganan kerja sama tersebut dilakukan oleh drg. Nurtami, Ph.D., Sp.OF (K) selaku Wakil Rektor Bidang Riset dan Inovasi UI, Direktur Utama PT Etana Biotechnologies Indonesia Nathan Tirtana, dan Direktur Utama PT Pertamina Bina Medika IHC Dr. dr. Fathema Djan Rachmat, Sp.B, Sp. BTKV (K), MPH. Acara ini juga dihadiri oleh Direktur Utama Rumah Sakit UI dan para perwakilan Fakultas Rumpun Ilmu Kesehatan.

Rektor Universitas Indonesia yang diwakili oleh Wakil Rektor Bidang SDM dan Aset,  Prof. Dr. Ir. Dedi Priadi, DEA menyambut baik dan mengapresiasi terjalinnya kerja sama ini. Prof. Dedi juga menyampaikan bahwa adanya kolaborasi ini menjadi kunci untuk menyelesaikan permasalahan yang ada di masyarakat saat ini. Selain itu, akan menjadi langkah konkrit kontribusi UI dalam pelaksanaan Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi yang mendukung program Pemerintah di bidang kesehatan. Senada dengan Prof. Dedi, Direktur Utama PT. Etana Biotechnologies Indonesia, Nathan Tirtana juga mengapresiasi kerja sama ini. “PT. Etana Biotechnologies Indonesia terus berupaya melakukan penelitian dan pengembangan produk khususnya obat-obatan yang berbasis bioteknologi. Kami berharap terus tercipta sinergi yang baik lintas industri dalam membantu perkembangan ekosistem industri kesehatan, khususnya obat berbasis biofarmasi”, ujarnya.

Selanjutnya, Direktur Utama Pertamedika IHC, Dr. dr. Fathema Djan Rachmat juga menyampaikan bahwa kerja sama ini menjadi satu langkah berani dan maju terkait dengan kerja sama dengan perusahaan swasta dalam merespon kebutuhan masyarakat, pasien, khususnya pengobatan dan terapi kanker. “Kolaborasi ini merupakan backbone yang kuat untuk riset dan penelitian di Indonesia, kami memilih UI dan Etana sebab UI terbaik di Indonesia dan dunia, sedangkan Etana merupakan perusahaan yang merintis pembuatan obat berbasis bioteknologi yang baik.” ujarnya. Pada kesempatan yang sama, Wakil Rektor Bidang Riset dan Inovasi, drg. Nurtami, Ph.D., Sp.OF(K)  juga menyampaikan sambutannya dengan menekankan bahwa kini riset bukan hanya riset, tetapi riset harus dilakukan untuk masyarakat. Nurtami juga mengapresiasi terselenggaranya kerja sama ini sebagai bentuk pengembangan ekosistem riset.

Kerja sama ini diharapkan dapat terlaksana dengan baik dan memberikan manfaat bagi masyarakat serta mampu berkontribusi dalam kemajuan ekosistem industri kesehatan di Indonesia melalui penelitian dan pengembangan obat berbasis teknologi dan merupakan perwujudan triple helix (intellectual, government, business) dalam membangun ekosistem riset dan Inovasi Indonesia.

Responding to Community Needs: UI, PT Etana Biotechnologies Indonesia, and PT Pertamina Bina Medika IHC Establish Research and Development Partnership for Biotechnology-Based Drugs

Together with PT Etana Biotechnologies Indonesia and PT Pertamina Bina Medika Indonesia Healthcare Corporation (IHC), Universitas Indonesia signed the Master Cooperation Agreement on Thursday, September 30, 2021, at Balai Kirti, Universitas Indonesia. The signing of this collaboration is expected to contribute to the advancement of the health industry ecosystem in Indonesia through the research and development of technology-based drugs.

The signing of the collaboration was carried out by drg. Nurtami, Ph.D., Sp.OF (K) as the Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation at UI, President Director of PT Etana Biotechnologies Indonesia Nathan Tirtana, and President Director of PT Pertamina Bina Medika IHC Dr. dr. Fatema Djan Rachmat, Sp.B, Sp. BTKV (K), MPH. This event was also attended by the President Director of UI Hospital and representatives of the Faculty of Health Sciences.

The Rector of Universitas Indonesia, represented by the Vice-Rector for Human Resources and Assets, Prof. Dr. Ir. Dedi Priadi, DEA, welcomed and appreciated this collaboration. Prof. Dedi also said that this collaboration is the key to solving problems that exist in society today. In addition, it will be a concrete step for UI’s contribution in implementing the Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi, which supports Government programs in the health sector. In line with Prof. Dedi, President Director of PT. Etana Biotechnologies Indonesia, Nathan Tirtana also appreciated this collaboration. “PT. Etana Biotechnologies Indonesia continues to conduct research and product development, especially technology-based drugs. We hope to continue to create good synergies across industries in helping the development of the health industry ecosystem, especially biopharmaceutical-based drugs,” he said.

Furthermore, the President Director of Pertamedika IHC, Dr. dr. Fatema Djan Rachmat said that this collaboration was a bold and forward step related to collaboration with private companies in responding to the community’s needs, patients, especially cancer treatment and therapy. “This collaboration is a strong backbone for research and research in Indonesia. We chose UI and Etana because UI is the best in Indonesia and the world, and Etana is a company that pioneered the manufacture of good biotechnology-based drugs.” he said. On the same occasion, the Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation at Universitas Indonesia, drg. Nurtami, Ph.D., Sp.OF(K) also delivered her remarks by emphasizing that now research is not just research, but research must be done for the community. drg. Nurtami, Ph.D., Sp.OF(K) also appreciated implementing this collaboration as a form of developing a research ecosystem.

This collaboration is expected to be carried out well and provide benefits to the community and contribute to the advancement of the health industry ecosystem in Indonesia through research and development of technology-based drugs. It is the embodiment of the triple helix (intellectual, government, business) in building the Indonesian research and innovation ecosystem.
